The cannabis industry was doing so well in 2014, we were doing great in 2015 and in ’16, there was such a buzz. The discussion back then was being the first billion-dollar industry not dominated by men. And that was it. But the last two years we are seeing the decline, it's frustrating.

An Equal Ground for Men and Women

Medical cannabis came up on a ballot in 2010. In 2010 there were equal rights for men and women to apply for a licenses, believe it or not. While it wasn't truly 50/50, there were a significant number of women in the industry as operators. There were also women in executive/director roles, as board members and owning the actual license. I think the fact that it was an equal ground opportunity for men and women created a great amount of women going for it- from the starting line and that was fun. It was fun to see so many women applying; it was fun to see that when you apply for a job, no one knows more than you, because, back then- truly no one knew.
