While the cannabis industry is booming around the world, there are still people who suffer under remaining cannabis prohibition. In the U.S., the war on drugs has devastated countless communities. Even to this today, nearly 700,000 people are arrested each year for marijuana infractions. In other parts of the world, people are made refugees because of their governments prosecuting the war on drugs. This is to say that, yes, we have come very far – but there is so much more work to do in this arena. Remember that the marijuana rights we have now came from decades of hard work from patients, activists, and advocates. It is important to center ourselves in every layer of this reality, and to continue the fight.
