A change in uniform changes behavior. Police uniform before the War on Drugs kicked off in the '80s and '90s is a starkly different from today. Police wore dress shoes, dress slacks, a button up shirt with breast pockets and a badge. This look was very attractive and pleasing to the eye for children and families. It said, ā€œIā€™m friendly and approachable.ā€

A New Uniform

Fast forward to today and we see a uniform associated with the military. Starting with their footwear that laces up to the mid-calf. Overtop the black dress shirt is a thick, ballistic vest with POLICE stamped on the back. You see them wearing head gear that resembles helmets. In some cases, they could be slinging a military style AR-15 or submachine gun. Read the full Article:
